Essential oils : which are obtained through mechanical pressing or distillation.
  • Are concentrated plant extracts that retain the natural smell and flavor of their source.
  • Each essential oil has a unique composition of chemicals.
  • This variation affects the smell, absorption, and effects on the body.
  • The chemical composition of an essential oil may vary within the same plant species, or from plant to plant.
  • Synthetic oils are not considered true essential oils.
  • The researchers tested pure essential lavender and tea tree oils, as well as four chemicals commonly found in both : eucalyptol, 4-terpinenol, dipentene/limonene, and alpha-terpineol. These compounds were selected because the International Standard Organization mandated that they be included in both lavender and tea tree oils. The NIEHS research team also studied linalyl acetate and linalool, which are specific to lavender oil, and alpha-terpinene and gamma-terpinene, which are specific to tea tree oil.
  • The scientists applied pure essential lavender oil, tea tree oil, or eight of their chemical components to human cell lines in test tubes, known as in vitro experiments. They found that the compounds displayed a range of hormonal activities, which may stimulate prepubertal gynecomastia in boys.

Agarwood oil has a strong, woody, and slightly sweet aroma, making it a popular ingredient in perfumes and other fragrances. It is also used in aromatherapy to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and enhance mood.

The composition of agarwood oil is exceedingly complex with more than 150 chemical compounds identified. At least 70 of these are terpenoids which come in the form of sesquiterpenes and chromones. no monoterpenes have been detected at all. Other common classes of compounds include agarofurans, cadinanes, eudesmanes, valencanes and eremophilanes, guaianes, prezizanes, vetispiranes, simple volatile aromatic compounds as well as a range of miscellaneous compounds. The exact balance of these materials will vary depending on the age and species of tree as well as the exact details of the oil extraction process.

Agarwood, aloeswood, eaglewood, gharuwood or the Wood of Gods, most commonly referred to as oud or oudh (from Arabic: عود, romanized: ʿūd, pronounced [ʕuːd]), is a fragrant, dark and resinous wood used in incense, perfume, and small hand carvings. It is formed in the heartwood of Aquilaria trees after they become infected with a type of Phaeoacremonium mold, P. parasitica. The tree defensively secretes a resin to combat the fungal infestation. Prior to becoming infected, the heartwood is mostly lacking in scent, and is relatively light and pale in colouration. However, as the infection advances, and the tree produces its fragrant resin as a final option of defense, the heartwood becomes very dense, dark, and saturated with resin. This product is harvested, and most famously referred to in cosmetics under the scent names of oud, oodh or aguru; however, it is also called aloes (not to be confused with the succulent plant genus Aloe), agar (this name, as well, is not to be confused with the edible, algae-derived thickening agent agar agar), as well as gaharu or jinko. With thousands of years of known use, and valued across Muslim, Christian, and Hindu communities (among other religious groups), oud is prized in Middle Eastern and South Asian cultures for its distinctive fragrance, utilized in colognes, incense and perfumes.

Lemon essential oil is a completely natural ingredient that also serves as a home health remedy. It's extracted from the peel of fresh lemons through steam extraction, or less often, through a “cold-pressing” process that pricks and rotates the peel as oil is released. Lemon essential oil from Citrusmade is sourced from the family-run Citrusmade Farm in Sicily, Italy. It is a liquid that comes in a 0.5 fluid ounce bottle and has a shelf life of three years. Lemon essential oil is extracted from the peel of fresh lemons using a cold-pressing process. This process helps to retain the aroma and essence of the fresh citrus peel. The oil has a fresh, citrusy aroma and a greenish-yellow color.

Tea Tree Essential Oil is known for skin issues such as acne, blemishes, scars etc. We source our Tea Tree Essential Oil directly from one of the biggest suppliers of Tea Tree in the world, based out of Australia. Each batch that we receive is tested for potency and purity in Australian labs with full traceability to the crop.

  • Tea tree oil, also known as melaleuca oil, is an essential oil with a fresh, camphoraceous odor and a colour that ranges from pale yellow to nearly colourless and clear. It is derived from the leaves of the tea tree, Melaleuca alternifolia, native to southeast Queensland and the northeast coast of New South Wales, Australia. The oil comprises many constituent chemicals, and its composition changes if it is exposed to air and oxidizes. Commercial use of tea tree oil began in the 1920s, pioneered by the entrepreneur Arthur Penfold.
  • As a traditional medicine, it is typically used as a topical medication in low concentrations for the treatment of skin conditions, but little evidence exists of clinical efficacy.
  • Tea tree oil is neither a patented product nor an approved drug in the United States, although it is approved as a complementary medicine for aromatherapy in Australia. It is poisonous if consumed by mouth and is unsafe for children.
USE :

       1. Although tea tree oil is claimed to be useful for treating dandruff, acne, lice, herpes, insect bites, scabies, and skin fungal or bacterial infections, insufficient evidence exists to support any of these claims due to the limited quality of research. A 2015 Cochrane review of acne complementary therapies found a single low-quality trial showing benefit on skin lesions compared to placebo.
       2. According to the Committee on Herbal Medicinal Products (CHMP) of the European Medicines Agency, traditional usage suggests that tea tree oil is a possible treatment for "small, superficial wounds, insect bites, and small boils" and that it may reduce itching in minor cases of athlete's foot. The CHMP states that tea tree oil products should not be used on people under 12 years of age.

French lavender oil is native to the Mediterranean region and grows in France, Italy, Bulgaria, and the Himalayas. In the Provence region of France, lavender grows at low altitudes, which gives the oil a more earthy, pungent aroma. French lavender essential oil is a clear to pale yellow oil with a fresh, floral, and slightly earthy aroma. It's extracted from the flowering buds of the Lavandula Angustifolia plant using steam distillation.

  • Lavender is a genus of 47 species of flowering plants, all part of the Lamiaceae or mint family. It is native across Europe to Northern and Eastern Africa, Southwest Asia, and Southeast India, but will thrive in any Temperate climate. The two most common species being English and Dutch Lavender. Due to their hardy nature, pleasant aroma, and unique look, these are the two most popular choices in ornamental gardening and commercial propagation.
  • Lavandula Angustifolia, known as English Lavender or Common Lavender, is typically what comes to mind when picturing the rolling lavender fields of Provence. They boast pointed leaves and spikes of characteristically blueish-purple colored flowers that release their aroma upon being touched or crushed. Lavendin or Dutch Lavender is another extremely common, being one of the hardiest varieties available. This type of lavender will grow into a shrub or bush-like plant that also blooms into purplish flowers that tend to be a bit brighter than their English cousin. Lavendin has an equally characteristic lavender aroma. However, it contains a slight camphor note, making the overall aroma a bit sharper. While technically the two can be used interchangeably, and have been for many years. In more recent times, the market has begun to see a split in the advertising of the two, as they lend themselves better to different applications. While the softer, sweeter aroma of English Lavender is better when incorporated into personal care and perfumery, the stronger note of the Dutch Lavender is ideal for flavoring and cleaning formulations.
  • Lavender essential oil is generally steam distilled from the flowers and the leaves of the plant. In perfumery, lavender is one of the easiest recognized aromas. In modern fragrances, it adds a light herbal and sweet feminity to formulations. Lavender’s ability to seem both cool from its relation to mint or spicier when blended accordingly leaves a perfumer a lot of room to make a truly unique fragrance experience. In the modern flavor industry, lavender is growing in popularity, especially in the beverage and confectionery industries. With the growth of the organic, green, and healthy movements, botanicals such as lavender create light and fresh flavor profiles that complement other natural ingredients. Botanicals like lavender have seen a considerable spike, especially in the alcoholic flavor industry, as more people strive to create entire drinking experiences, rather than just flavors.
  • In healing applications, the use of lavender is easily followed throughout history. Today, lavender is an essential part of the aromatherapy industry. Lavender provides extreme calming effects and can be used to ease the symptoms of anxiety and insomnia. Lavender also provides natural pain relief, especially for headaches, labor pain, toothaches, ear pain, and post-surgical pain. Lavender therapy is often a part of the cognitive treatment administered to dementia and Alzheimer’s patients.

Eucalyptus oil has been recommended for the treatment of upper respiratory and other viral infections, and is also used in a liniment for muscle aches and strains. The yellowish oil has a distinctive camphor-like, pungent odor, which lingers on the breath of a poisoned patient. The active ingredient in the EO is eucalyptol, made of 1, 8-cineole plus tannins, in up to a 70% concentration. Hydrocyanic acid, present in lesser amounts, is also a contributor to the oil's toxicity.17 Eucalyptus oil is capable of hepatic microsomal induction, and thus may affect the metabolism of other drugs and chemicals. It is rapidly absorbed and has primary neurotoxicity (seizures, coma). Elimination of eucalyptol may be largely via the pulmonary route.

Peppermint essential oil can be extracted from the leaves of the peppermint plant and is used for a variety of purposes. It has a sharp odor that's cool and refreshing, and the taste is similar. You may be familiar with the coolness in your mouth after you consume something with a peppermint flavor. The herb peppermint, a natural cross between two types of mint (water mint and spearmint), grows throughout Europe and North America. Both peppermint leaves and the essential oil from peppermint have been used for health purposes. Peppermint oil is the essential oil taken from the flowering parts and leaves of the peppermint plant. (Essential oils are very concentrated oils containing substances that give a plant its characteristic odor or flavor.) Peppermint is a common flavoring agent in foods and beverages, and peppermint oil is used as a fragrance in soaps and cosmetics. Peppermint has been used for health purposes for several thousand years. Records from ancient Greece, Rome, and Egypt mention that it was used for digestive disorders and other conditions. Today, peppermint is promoted for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), other digestive problems, the common cold, sinus infections, headaches, and other conditions. Peppermint oil is promoted for topical use (applied to the skin) for problems like headache, muscle aches, joint pain, and itching. In aromatherapy, peppermint oil is promoted for treating coughs and colds, reducing pain, improving mental function, and reducing stress.

  • A small amount of research has been conducted on peppermint oil, primarily focusing on IBS.
  • Very little research has been done on peppermint leaf.
